PARTS OF THE DAY
Welcome Centers: We welcome students to join us each morning for a special activity that is our teachers place out for them each morning allowing them to be curious and play with friends.
Independent Play: Independent play offers our Kiddos rich experiences that develop a curiosity and joy of learning using the classroom centers following interest areas: blocks, dramatic play, toys & games, art, library, discovery, sand & water, music & movement, cooking, and technology.
Community: We start and end the day with Community Time. We take this time to check in with our students, go over the day, give accolades, explore music & movement, and help develop a love of reading. We love to start the day off in a positive way!
Core Learning: Each morning we break into small groups based on where the individual child is on their learning path for subjects including Language, Literacy, Math, etc. Then we rotate these small groups, so students get to touch on different subjects every day. The lessons will be FUN and ENGAGING, and taught in ways that make students excited to learn!
Outside Play: Playtime is extremely important to us. As many think that it’s a break from learning, we know that it’s where learning begins in childhood. Our playground is built for the imagination and to enjoy the outdoors. Our teachers are guides to their outdoor learning experience–encouraging large motor skill development, guiding peer interactions, and inspiring curiosity about our world.
Lunch & Snacks: During our meal times we use family style eating where we sit at the table with our kiddos and encourage conversation, independence, socialization and feeding skills.
Rest Time: We provide a 2 hour rest time where students are encouraged to nap or stay quietly on their mat. We provide a comfy nap sack for each kiddo and set the mood for optimal napping conditions.
Meaningful Moments: Our teachers take the world around us and the natural curiosity of children and are trained to use these moments to ask open ended questions, share information, and listen to our kiddos.
Discovery Project: With our Tots and Preschoolers we take a student-led approach during this time to create and complete a longer-term project or theme directed by their interests as a collaborative group. By allowing our students to explore their curiosity with the help of our teachers, they become empowered and excited to learn!
